The fifth meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee that was held on May 5 in Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province, reviewed its recent performance in the sphere of international relations and mapped out its strategy moving forwards.

Shanxi's Party chief Lin Wu, who presided over the meeting, emphasized that it's necessary to coordinate novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control with socioeconomic development, and do a first-rate job in foreign cooperation and exchanges, so as to better serve the country's overall diplomatic position.

The meeting reviewed and affirmed Shanxi's foreign affairs work that has been carried out since last year. Shanxi's foreign affairs departments at all levels have continued to deepen international sister city and non-governmental exchanges and cooperation, which has also achieved progress and results.

Faced with new challenges and requirements in foreign affairs brought about by the needs for epidemic prevention and control, Shanxi is expected to launch more online and offline activities with various forms and content.

Moreover, it will aim to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of its work in the sphere of foreign affairs, to give full play to vital platforms related to international communications and further promote Shanxi's point of view, narrative and raise its profile abroad. This is expected to help boost the province's opening-up and its development.
