The Shanxi Provincial Government recently approved the establishment of two provincial-level economic development zones in the city of Changzhi in North China's Shanxi province.

They include the Zhangzi Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Licheng Economic and Technological Development Zone. This brings the total number of provincial-level economic development zones in Changzhi to 13, more than any other prefecture-level city in Shanxi.

The Zhangzi Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is located in the Danzhu and Dabaotou towns of Zhangzi county, has a total planned area of 7.15 square kilometers. The development zone focuses on green energy and modern logistics, and will cultivate emerging industries such as intelligent manufacturing, organic food, biomedicine, and new materials.

The Licheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is located in Lihou town and Xiwu township in Licheng county, covers a total planned area of 17.17 sq km. The development zone focuses on the development of the new materials, new energy, iron and steel coking industries.
