The 2nd China Space Science Assembly opened in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Aug 26.

The assembly attracted more than 10 academicians, experts, scholars and 50 young scientific and technological workers in the fields of space science, space technology and space applications from across the country. They have discussed the latest progress, major achievements, cutting-edge trends and developments of space science.

During the four-day event, 13 lectures and more than 30 academic exchange activities have been held, involving discussions of cutting-edge technologies in space science and popular science lectures for ordinary people.

At the opening ceremony, a provincial science promotion month was launched. Domestic aerospace experts and professors will be arranged to visit eight schools in the cities of Taiyuan, Xinzhou, Lyuliang, and Yuncheng, giving popular science lectures to students over the course of a month and getting students interested in science and technology.

The assembly will further stimulate the vitality and capacity of scientific and technological innovation in Shanxi and promote platform construction, collaborative innovation, talent training, and the promotion of space science, furthering Shanxi's close practical cooperation with domestic scientific research institutions and advancing the transformation and upgrading of related industries.
