The Shanxi-Macao Investment Promotion Matchmaking Event, hosted by the Shanxi Department of Commerce, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanxi Provincial People's Government, and the Shanxi Investment Promotion Bureau, took place in Macao on Dec 15.
Macao, an international free port and a global tourism and leisure center in South China, serves as a bridge between the economies and cultures of the Eastern and Western worlds.
Shanxi in North China is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization. In recent years, it has integrated itself into the Belt and Road Initiative, and its advantages as an open economy have become increasingly prominent.
"Macao holds a unique and irreplaceable position in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. By organizing this investment promotion matchmaking event, we aim to deepen cooperation in areas such as culture, tourism, and trade between the two regions," said Wang Hongjin, director of the Shanxi Department of Commerce.
During the event, Wang provided detailed introductions about Shanxi's opportunities for transformational development, high-quality resource endowments, key industrial chains, as well as its favorable business environment.
Representatives from Shanxi enterprises also presented their future development plans. Business associations and companies from Macao, including the Greater Bay Area Digital Industry Association and Macao Feiwanli Group, participated in the event.
Several Shanxi companies showcased their specialty products such as traditional Chinese medicine, agricultural products, textiles, iron kettles, and paper-cutting during the event, which received great interest from attending Macao entrepreneurs.
"We will further promote Shanxi and deepen cooperation in cultural tourism, healthcare, international education, and other fields, based on the existing foundation of cooperation," said Lin Wai-chuan, chairman of Macao Fei Wan Li Group.
